Treating Depression in the Primary Care Setting: The IMPACT Model

A flexible evidence-based approach to treating depression in the primary care setting, the IMPACT model has been implemented in a range of settings, with documented improvements in depression, physical and mental health, and quality of life.

This powerpoint presentation was part of a webinar hosted by the California Improvement Network.  The presenters were:

  • Jürgen Unützer, professor and vice chair, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Washington, who developed the IMPACT model; with
  • Rita Haverkamp, clinical nurse specialist, Kaiser Permanente Southern California, and
  • Marty Adelman, mental health program coordinator, San Diego Council of Community Clinics, who are using the approach.
